THE CALL
Filmed in an abandoned equestrian centre with the specific intention of creating a compelling showreel, this piece was thoughtfully written in under an hour, with only thirty minutes allocated to prepare the actors for both the script and their performance. Despite the significant constraints on time, this production stands as an independent piece, serving the showreels of both the actors and the dedicated crew involved.
Directing this particular project was an enthralling experience for Ntiarna, especially since she accomplished the writing in such a short time. She skillfully managed to flesh out the characters within this brief narrative, ensuring that her direction made the interactions between the two actors realistic and engaging. In this scenario, Ntiarna discovered that collaborating with the actors simultaneously, given the time limitations, provided her with important lessons about the film industry and the directing process. The two actors were able to connect with each other, showcasing both enthusiasm and professionalism, while also attentively incorporating feedback from Ntiarna as the director. This project was truly a collaborative effort, with Ntiarna taking on multiple roles—she was not just the writer and director but also the Assistant Camera (AC), her own Assistant Director (AD), and Makeup Artist (MUA). Ntiarna does not shy away from the challenge of assuming multiple roles at a moment’s notice; rather, she demonstrates a remarkable ability to navigate a film set in various capacities and consistently seizes the initiative when required.
